What is Craniosacral Fascial Therapy?

A gentle approach to helping the body unwind, move, and function more freely.

Craniosacral Fascial Technique (CFT) is a gentle, hands-on technique that focuses on the relationship between the fascia, nervous system, and the body’s natural ability to heal and adapt.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles, organs, nerves, and other structures throughout the body. When the body experiences physical stress, injury, illness, or other forms of tension, the fascia can become restricted or less mobile. CFT works with the body to gently unwind these restrictions and restore movement within the fascial system.

Treatment may involve very gentle movements of the head, neck, sacrum, arms, legs, and abdomen. Many people find CFT deeply relaxing, and it can encourage mobility and support a shift toward the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and restore” state.

CFT vs. Craniosacral Therapy

Although the names can sound similar, CFT and Craniosacral Therapy (CST) are not the same technique.CFT specifically works with the fascial system and its relationship with the craniosacral system, using gentle physical unwinding techniques to address areas of restriction throughout the body. CST, on the other hand, traditionally focuses more specifically on the craniosacral rhythm and subtle movements of the craniosacral system.
